Students at UEI College in Chula Vista Win Contest, Make $1000 Donation to Boys & Girls Club of Imperial Beach
UEI College hosted a social media contest in December, challenging students in different classes at all 16 UEI locations to see who could raise the most awareness for their local Boys and Girls Club. To win the contest, students in the class had to share a post on social media and generate the most likes and shares. The Dental Assistant (DA) class taught by instructor Morgan Villalpando at the UEI College campus in Chula Vista tied with another class at UEI College in Fresno for first place, winning a $1,000 donation to the Boys & Girls Club of Imperial Beach.
“I am proud of these students for their efforts to support such a worthy organization,” Morgan said. “They enjoyed being part of the #UEICares campaign and their efforts really paid off. Congratulations!”
“Winning the contest means a lot to me, not only for the dental program, but for the Boys and Girls Club. We hope it will help them with the funding they need to support their staff and kids during these tough times,” said DA student Anthony Posada.
“I am thrilled that students in Ms. Villalpando’s class at our campus won this special contest. Thank you to them for this effort, and thank you to the Boys & Girls Club for all that they do for the youth in our community,” said Chula Vista Campus President David Movsesian.
“Thank you UEI for your donation to Boys & Girls Clubs of South County. We appreciate your generous donation and students efforts to help support our local youth and their families in our community. Because of your generosity we are able to continue to offer our distance learning program and services in times they need it most,” said Stephanie Ortega, Program Director for the Boys & Girls Clubs of South County.
“UEI launched the Cares campaign last year as a way to give back to the local community while engaging students in the process. To date, we have contributed $5,500 to local nonprofits throughout the country, including the Boys & Girls Club. Congratulations to the Dental Assistant class in Chula Vista for winning this contest, and I look forward to the student enthusiasm for our next campaign,” said Dr. Fardad Fateri, President and CEO.
